Since I have had my steers for months now, never have had them bloat till recently.  The only thing I added was barley to the feed.  Has anyone ever heard of barley being an issue with calves bloating?  Also what are some things I can do other than get the barley out of the ration, to help keep the bloating from coming back?  Thanks

Is it frothy bloat or just gas bloat?  Frothy bloatcalls for a Bloat Guard product.  Gas bloat calls for exercise.

Of course barley will cause bloat.  How much barley?  How is it processed (rolled, ground), and is there rumensin in your feed?  I never feed barley without rumensin (monensin).  If you are feeding enough to cause bloat they were already overdosing and causing acidosis. Back the feed off and introduce it slowly, but most importantly, add monensin to the mix.

have a couple blocks of SWEETLIX in there with them.

I agree.  We always have a bloat block in the bunk, and they go after them pretty good!  Never had a problem since we started doing that about 4 years ago.
