Steers popping pasterns

What if any product is working to help steers loosen up on their pasterns or stop popping them when they walk?  Tried different stuff with not a lot of success.

What have you tried?

We always feed one rep-gel capsule per calf per week for pretty much the duration of the show barn career of the animals.

id pull blood and see if it has any deficiencies ... like selenium seems to be a good cause. If you have about $100 extra to spend every month and are serious about showing.....  LubriSyn...... cant beat it!

I give rep-gel paste once a month should I do it every week and how much ---------------I didn't know they made it in a bolus

The LubriSyn is a good shout too.

We just give one bolus per week in their feed, they seem to eat it just fine.  We will also give it every day to one at shows if they're not moving quite right.

It won't cure a cripple but it can help one that's just a little stiff or has a slight pastern problem.

What is rep-gel? I have never heard of this but we have tried many horse medicines.

Some of the clubby genetics are prone to problems with pasterns.  So, it may not be something you can't fix with a supplement.  Never tried it but I have heard from one of the best in the business that trimming the hooves can help.  Good luck!

I believe there is (or was) a product called Natural Stride. You used to be able to get it from Sullivan's maybe not anymore. It works like a charm.
