For whatever reason the ants seem to be worse this year than in the past. The barn has a concrete floor with the heifers &  steers bedded on 4 inches of torpedo sand. Food buckets are picked up after each feeding and the floor is then sweep-ed to keep as clean as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

get some Tempo, it is harmless to you and animals, but it works great on bugs.

it will last a few weeks, unless you wash the pen out.

I second the idea of using Tempo.  That stuff works great for all types of bugs.

Tempo works good as a spray but for long term I would recommend a bait that you can buy from Home Depot. Just broadcast the bait outside the stall and the ants will take it back the mound and in a few days the problem should be gone.
