My daughter has a show calf and he is walking really stiff legged.
Anyone have suggestions how to improve?

We have been using natural stride and it seems to be working (although expensive) and getting them out and excercising will also help (or turning out in a pasture lot at night. Good luck;)

Also agree with natural stride, if you buy the smaller pale it's a couple hundred dollars cheaper

A friend of mine who raises show pigs told me to mix a little baking soda in with my steers feed to help him walk. He started walking better before i could try it but it could be a cheap alternative if your brave enough to try it. (lol)

thanks for the advice - any suggestion how to get him to eat it? likes to pick around it.

Agreed on what wonderchic says on both.  You might try a hand full of beet pulp barely wet (wet enough that the powder will stick) and mix the NS into it.  Then blend that mix into the feed.  That was the best trick we found for our picky eaters too.  If anyone else has tips on that, I'd love to hear them too!

We didn't have any problems getting her to eat it (It smells sooo sweet) but we did have to do it a little at a time over three of four days, cause she got the screaming sh*ts on the first day. We just mix it in with the other supplements in her feed. I know that wasn't much help, but I hope you get your calf walking better:)
