I just averaged the REA and marbling scores for all the Touchdown sons in this sale. They indexed 103.4 for rib eye area and 107 for marbling against all the bulls in the sale. I think this set of bulls are very well muscled so these results may even be better against breed averages. I will do some hunting and see if I can find some info on that.  While it was only on 9 bulls, this data suggests he may improve both REA and marbling. Usually bigger REA bulls will have lower marbling scores so this is interesting.

We should have our sale catalog on our websites in the next day. You can check it out at www.horseshoecreekfarms.com  or www.ulurushorthorns.com or www.anwendercattlecompany.com or at www.poplarparkfarm.com .
We are selling 49 yearlings and 1 two year old bull this year. I am thinking this is the deepest quality set of bulls we have offered yet.

We have had several people asking us what out calves by HC FL Touchdown 123T ET are like. Here are some sons selling in the sale. They tell the Touchdown story better than I could. They are medium framed, thick and soggy made. Great tops and muscle down to their hock. Almost all the bulls in this sale are outcross to most US genetics, so anyone who says they can't find outcross genetics isn't looking real hard.

Grant-
Thanks for doing a bull test.  It is a great way to sort the animals on facts rather than fun.  Keep up the good work.

Here is the link to view the videos of our bulls. They are very amateur as we didn't have enough people but I think they should the bulls a bit better than by just seeing a picture. If you have any questions about any of these bulls, please contact myself or any of the other consignors.  The sale catalog is now ready to be mailed so if you are interested in receiving one, let me know. The sale catalog, the ultrasound results, the end of test results, and the videos are all on our websites.

I was driving down the highway within about five miles of the Sun Country bulls yesterday so took took a few minutes to stop in and have a quick look at them.  In my opinion there are some very good bulls there that are in nice condition to go out and work for people.  There had been about two inches of rain earlier in the week and several of the bulls were not straying far from either the feedbunk or waterbowl so with only ankle high boots I was not wading going to far into the mud and did not get the best look at all of the bulls.

I did not have a catalog with me as I was looking at the bulls but going back and looking at one afterwards the Foolproof and Renegade bulls are both ones that I picked out along with another Touchdown son.  Grant has definitely described Foolproof correctly as a tank although for myself personally I would not mind seeing him just a little bit bigger.

In another thread I know thunderdownunder referred to really liking one of Anwender's bulls and I would concur as the lot 31 bull is definitely a standout in the pen and a couple of others are no slouches either.   There were also some Popular Park bulls that were really good red bulls.

Thanks vcsf... I think the bulls are looking excellent and every consignor has some real definite herd bulls.  The 2 inches of rain thet got there has really made a mess but I expect they will be very thankful for it in a couple months. Foolproof is moderate framed, but he is definitely packed full of meat and he has an 80 lb BW. He should really work for someone who wants to moderate some big cows and add some muscle to their offspring... and I think he is a good candidate to use on heifers as well. I also agree with you about the Poplar Park and Anwender bulls. They both have several outstanding bulls. They are thick, easy fleshing and real beef machines. I wish I had 1000 cows!

All of the bulls in the Sun Country test are really good, sound, commercially oriented cattle that will go out and get the job done. All of the consignors should be commended for the standard of cattle they have presented. I hope they are suitably rewarded come sale day!

I was just watching some of the videos. The bulls look really good.  Why is there not a video for the white shorthorn tag 16?

I have watched the videos and the bulls look very moderate in design. Are these the type of bulls that you could put back on club calf mommas? I have never used a shorthorn bull but these look like the type that would work.

I think we missed doing a video of 16. Not sure how that happened!!  Lot 16 is a moderate framed white bull who has a moderate BW.He indexed 101 for REA and 108 for IMF, and has 35 cm testicles. I think he could be used on heifers or cows and he would certainly work great on some black females to make those blue roan calves. His granddam was a donor cow here for many years and she has progeny in 5 countries. His dam will be flushed here this spring.

I think there are a number of bulls in this sale that could be put back on clubbie cows. In our discussions with a couple AI companies before we worked a deal on Touchdown, they both commented that Touchdown was a bull that could work on the clubby side as well as the PB side. There are also several other bulls that I think would work well on clubby females. They are thick topped, and pretty sound structured. This is probably the deepest set for quality that we have offered yet.

Here is the Grand dam of Lot 33. The two calves are Touchdown calves. The red heifer had a 79lb bw and the white calf had a 68lb bw. We have not had a lot of TD calves but they have come 3 to 4 days early (clapping)
