Sweating?

Lately my steer has been damp when i go out to see him. From his neck down his back and just down his sides a bit, nothing on his legs or stomach. We thought it was the straw holding water from the night, or condensation dripping off the roof of the barn. Also the possibility of him playing in his water. Others around my house seem to think that maybe he is sweating. Do they do that?  ??? i guess that sounds like a silly question, but does that seem likely.

Also whats the risk of him getting ill from this happening if it cant be stopped. Right now around here it gets down do about the low 40's..

you need to move more air in your barn it sounds like to me if you put even a small fan on him it should solve the problem have seen some get sick form it I run a fan all the time just to stir the air around

It is most likely sweat, especially if the calf has good thick hair.

Take its temperature, if it is normal, then just keep it in an area where there is good air movement.  Don't worry about it getting too cold.

if he has really thick hair make sure he doesn't develop any hot spots. You can tell when he stats lossing clumps of hair. Try to keep him somewhat dry & air circulating.

ill put up a fan and see if that helps. because im in Arizona we dont have enclosed barns, so its pretty much just a covered stall. its pretty well ventelated, and we have fans on The roof in the aisles. but im forsure going to give the fans a try.

Make sure you get good fans like the turbo fans from sullivans, not just a little fan from the store.
