Could someone tell me the TH and PHA status of ALM Tequila?  The list on the Shorthorn Association website has nothing beside his name.  Thanks.

His sire might be free from both, but what about his dam?
I would call Manchester as suggested and hopefully he is tested!

I emailed Manchester's, they said he was not tested, but they had not heard of any defect calves by him.

Not tested equals CARRIER. (IMO)
Take OH Breeders advice.....

Doesn't the shorthorn assoc have a testing policy about AI sires??? OR testing ET cows?

Repeat after me: not tested equals a carrier. (IMO)

not testing narrows your marketing opportunities.  maybe it's a marketing "strategy" keeping the one's who want to use a carrier in the dark.

if he's free, and good, then probably at some point the people who want carriers would use him.

I was not trying to imply anything, just passing on what they said.  The bull was born almost 14 years ago.  In Canada, we were told Tequila was running out of semen long before the whole TH thing was a big deal.  I do not even know if Manchesters marketed him or just bred him.  I am sure that there are other bulls in the same situation that were legitamately not tested.

IMHO there is no such thing as "not legitimately testing" an AI bull (he is listed with SEK Genetics) with a known carrier or known founder of a genetic defect - what they said is what we often here when people do not test their carriers. Not tested, carrier until proven otherwise

I thought Don Coover from SEK tested everything he sold out of his pocket? Has anyone called him?

OH MY GOD, THE POLICE FORCE IS AT IT AGAIN!!

The founder animal for TH - Deerpark Improver - is 5 generations back on the dams side. OB had a THC calf out of the cow. You do the math.

It is amazing to me what Improver started. I wonder if any bull in history has been spread so far in several different breeds pedigrees. I wonder how many cattle in the U.S. go back to him? And the world isn't over yet. Or I guess Clare Man also. Its almost as if Improver should have stone marker in Ireland or somewhere. Maybe he is buried in the US I don't know.

The police will always be around as long as there are snakes, thieves, and "non-full disclosure" folks around.  For that, I am grateful.
