THE AMERICAN SHORTHORN ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES SHORTHORN UNIVERSITY 2008

Shorthorn University – Ohio

OMAHA, Neb., (May 6, 2008) – The American Shorthorn Association (ASA) is pleased to announce that Shorthorn University 2008 will take place in the state of Ohio over the weekend of July 25 – 27. Shorthorn University aims to broaden breeder’s awareness of the entire beef industry in an effort to give these attendees contact with influential leaders and opportunities to build relationships with fellow cattlemen.

The weekend will kick off Friday, July 25, 2008, at Ohio State University, and consist of speakers on cow size and efficiency, and export markets, as well as herd visits to large and small programs utilizing rotational grazing, winter grazing, and cooperated herds. The registration deadline for the event is Friday, July 11. Additional information, schedule, and registration form can be found at shorthorn.org or by contacting the ASA at 1.877.272.0686.

Last year in kansas was great!!!!  Not exactly sure what the focus is now that Nick and Ron are gone... I do believe it has morphed into something a little different than what it started out to be whether that is good or bad I am not sure..... The actual focus of the SU is not Shorthorn...... last year the stop at Dalebanks Angus was awesome! and the Red Angus ranch was very good too except for the rain.. I could have stayed at Ohlde's all day!.....The bus trip is also a pleasure and getting to meet others and talk cattle for 3-4 days was fun... Troy Smith was the best Shorthorn stop!  Actually I liked the Shorthorn breed stops the least because I really didn't like the cattle except for Troy's

I am not a shorthorn breeder, but I did hear that you guys will be headed out to see some cows running on reclaimed coal ground in Eastern OH.  They are not shorts they are angus, gelbvieh, simmy cattle, but it is some beautiful ground and great cattle!

What else is on the agenda- anyone know??

Scott, I think you enjoyed the BBQ as much as the cattle.
