What bull sires the thickest calves you have seen??

Thickest calves we've ever raised were sired by Perfect Timing (Full sib to X ray), Double Vision, and RB Eagle 148 (makes GREAT cows, IMO)..does anyone know what 148 semen is going for now? We have a few units and we haven't used him in probably 5 years..didn't know if anyone else was still.

That is kind of tough. The cow contributes to overral thickness as well. I have also seen super thick bulls bred to finer made females and the calves don't carry as much bulk.

Heat wave, Heat Seeker, Double Vision, few that I have seen that are super thick.

Beach Limi: Limi's will kick everyones butt when it comes to thickness won't they!!!

Funny how thickness can sometimes be confused with "hairy" and "fat".

Not trying to stir anything up here...but are you implying that those of us who have named sires that are popular club calf bulls don't know what thickness is?  If bulls like Heatwave and Heatseeker only sire hair and fat, then why do many steers out of these bulls do so well down in Texas and other southern states where slick shearing is the way to go?

Thickest cows I've ever had were sired by RB Eagle 148 and WHR Sonny 8114.  The 148 daughter didn't have a lick of hair, but she beat some high dollar heifers, and we bought her at market price or below.  Her second calf was a reserve champ at a county fair to another steer of ours that we showed....which was a calf out of the Sonny daughter..this one has a ton of hair, keeps her condition on air and water, and breeds back the first time every year.

Hard Core worked real well on my cows. Course the cow had 50% of the results too.

I have seen a couple thick Alias steers but I think sun seeker does a pretty good job to.

Suds seemed to sire the most real muscle of the Shorthorn bulls I have used over the past 15 years or so.  They may not have been the prettiest to look at, but they had real muscle.  Ar Su Lu Maxwell (sired by Gizmo, I think, out of a Maine cow) threw a lot of thickness, too.  My most disappointing calves were out of Double Stuff.  They were hairy and small, but he did not throw any real muscle in the calves I got.  Double Vision, Double Trouble, and Double Down all worked better as far as muscle goes.  Some of the old Maine bulls also sired some thick calves with real muscle for me.  We used a son of Etula for several years and really liked the calves.

Olson: Nope not saying that at all, but how many times have you heard a judge or bull buyer say "Wow, this bull is so thick...." when the bull was actually just FAT.
Or "I wish the bull had more cover so it could compete with the bull that stands before him....."

Or

"This heifer is much thicker than the one that stands in front of her"  when in reality it just has 3 inches of hair.  If it isn't true, then why do we all spend HOURS getting the hair to stand straight out? And why do we leave the hair on the lower leg longer than on the hip?  It creates an ILLUSION of thickness.

For natural thickness, you are hard pressed to run with the limis!!!

seen some realllllly thick fear this cows.  he might be a double muscle carrier though, and the dbl mscl carriers might be the really good ones.

so, i guess you could have the ultimate calf with PHAC, THC, DBMSClC.

there are at least 5 mutations for double muscle, with maine's having two of them.  there is the potential for a duplication of double muscling, which would allow one to be a carrier and still display double muscling, due to the duplication and both genes expressing or doing whatever they do.
