We had this calf born about a month ago figured we would keep her because we are selling her mother and wanna keep her bloodlines in our herd, but no either coyotes or a bobcat had to ruin that for us last night! just mutilated the poor thing!

You need to get yourself a couple of good hounds and start carrying your rifle with you wherever you go.

That's just sad should've had a couple of good dogs around they would of chased them off. I know what you mean we have a REALLY GOOD cow that is 23 years old and all the years she would have steers or only a couple of heifers we have some still but wish this year she would of had a heifer but no.

Coyote hunting is an essential part to herd management where I live. Last year alone me and my brother combined for a grand total of 26 coyotes. The sad thing is we didn't even go hunting them we only shot the ones that made there way into the same field as the cattle. I can say that after I got my two english pointers and my brother's irish wolfhound very few coyotes come on to the property anymore. Its true even though I constantly am watching the coyotes we still lose at least 2 calves a year. I just can't be everywhere, but thats where the  (dog)s have started to help a lot.
