I thought we'd dig a bit deeper this year for the National Angus show we are hosting in Manitoba so I went to the pasture and pull this guy from 45 pairs in mid august.  N7's Sandman 17D is a son of SAV Resource (I know, another resource son. boring).  His dam is a daughter of Tokach Update 9009. Semen is available for sale (Canada, US, Australia for now). Pics of Sandman and his Dam below.

Our show is next Thursday October 25th . If anyone is interested it will be broadcast on www.liveauctions.tv

April born bull calf off Sandman.  He puts some thickness and hair (if you'd believe it) into them.

You definitely have a good chunk of bull with Sandman. I’ve had the opportunity to see him in person and I know if I was running angus I would be settling some cows to him. Plus it’s good to see more people showing their breeding bulls instead of breeding show bulls.👍🏾

Great looking cattle!!
Who's handling semen sales below the border please? Thanks.
Thank you!  We will be selling packages ourselves for now unless I figure something else out this fall. Semen will be handled/exported by Alta Genetics.  Feel free to message me for prices and details.

How did you get along with your bull at the show?

We were Reserve Senior Champion at the first show and 2nd in class at the next show. Comments were consistent in that he was the best moving bull out there, just doesn't look like a "show bull".  One judge said he had too much muscle....the other said he lacked enough performance (he weighs just a hair under 2500lbs).  Shows are silly.  Breeders noticed him in the stall.  Got several semen packs sold already.

Do the judges at your national shows incorporate the epds in any meaningful way?
No EPDS are not used in Canadian shows at all.  In almost every case that would have helped my cause but that being said, I am not a big promoter of using numbers to judge a show. Good numbers are a good thing but typically the numbers are the last thing I evaluate when choosing animals to use.

Got the big boy pictured yesterday.  He hasn't lost much since November. Semen packs are still for sale.  DM for info.

Sandman just wrapped up his breeding season. Between 2 herds he bred for 14 weeks and bred close to 80 females.  Not too shabby
