I think my feelings are hurt dad hi-jacks my Thoroughbred thread with my sister and her wonder Arab...  :'(

BTA Intrigues' Finesse is line bred to the great Muscat stallion.  Even though she is only 13.3hh she has competed over 4' and successfully in Dressage, Hunter, Eventing and most successfully in Show Jumping.

I think horses are beautiful creatures but I don't understand them at all. Pedigrees and bloodlines all so much more complicated in the horse world. Also, we used to have to judge them for 4-H and I never could figure it out. Everytime a judge would tell you to look for different things in a good horse. I do enjoy watching the horse shows, especially jumping and team penning events.

Please tell me we aren't trying to equate line or inbreeding of race horses to other species of livestock.

Okotoks, great video & picts, i also showed hunter/jumpers

Hi Okotoks. Are there any videos with you on the hayburners, I mean jumpers? ;D

I refer to my wife's horses and donkeys as " pasture lice" but not very often as she really holds a grudge!!.  Actually, two of the best of God's creations were horses... and women.

jaime, that stud isn't a Thoroughbred is he?

The chestnut is a Arabian but the palomino I posted earlier is jockey club registered and DNA verified :)

I learn something new every day. My family has been in the Thoroughbred racing business since the late 1940's and have never heard of a Palomino Thoroughbred. On the apps. for papers from the Jockey Club are the color choices of Bay, Dark bay or brown, Chestnut,Black or Roan. New one on me.  <cowboy> My mistake I see now they have added Palomino to the colors just never have seen one.

It was definitely new for me when I purchased him in 2008 I did a lot of research before I purchased him.  I do know that the dilutant can be masked by a black (aka smokey black) and that the darker palominos and buckskins most likely would have been registered as chestnut and bay respectively.  Some of the foundation mares were registered as palomino which I found interesting and surprising!
