This cow was one of my last show heifers.  She has raised some really great purebreds, that have done well in the jackpots.  I'm debating on going clubby with her and doing the Shorthorn Plus deal and possibly selling flushes on her.  What are your opionions??

If she's clean heat wave would be the quickest return on investment for club calves you might even be able to sell those embryos

This might sound funny but I'm scared to death of Heat Wave.  I've heard nothing but horrior stories on him and yes I love his calves but I also love my cows.  I have several neat females that I would love to use him on but I haven't had to pull a calf in two years and I really hate to quit a good thing :p  If someone would like to flush her too him then thats fine, but with just me calving cows and working full time I'm not up for the challenge :p  Thank You though

Wonder what a Troubadour out of her would look like? There are some nice females listed on here of Barton's/Frosty's that are plum cool looking.

I think Manchild would be cool on her. That'd be the route I'd go, or maybe even a good heat wave son, who hasnt had "horror story bw's.". Good luck and nice lookin cow!!!!

I would think a thick clean deal-like one and only maybe thriller-open bar,etc.-she has enuff potential large  BirthWS and great hair in her background that you may want to stay clear at least a generation on HW. If shes clean-Rainmaker (son of Manchild) might work for blues  ALM Chiller has produced some really nice-low bw fuctional cattle out of Visions-THAT WIN SHOWS-so has DRM MIcky-I cross alot of clubby and maine-char-etc-I dont think people realize how good Micky is-there have been a bunch of 3500-5000 hiefers (including one of mine 5000 no sale at this point) that werent sold in big sales per se-GREAT BULLO0

A rock solid Angus bull would work to make Plus calves. Ramblin Fever, Silveira's Style- or El Capitan if he suits you.  Never have seen any Raven x Shorthorn cattle, but I imagine the heifer potential there is through the roof.

Our Shorthorns cross great with Maines, maybe try something like My Turn for a different clubby twist.

I'm not sure what percent it would be, but I think it'd still show as shorty plus. I think manchild would really work good on her.

Because he adds hair, bone, and muscle. That cow already has some of those, plus she has length, great lines and a pretty sweet front. I think that'd be a no miss mating that'd throw a cool roan for ya titangurl!!! I think there are a number of bulls that would work good on her, but manchild would be my pick.

I've seen manchilds at about every show I've gone to that are the EXACT opposite of what you've just described.

Advocate and trademark, you two seem to kinda have it out for me, any reason why?

Hmmm.... Weird that you say that, because under your thread "herefordfootball" you say to ranch4profit that you have an amazing heifer, that is a Manchild?? Care to explain?

If you are going to flush her or breed her to a shorthorn, go with Ace of Diamonds. If you use Heat Wave,be careful how she is fed[etc.] and managed, throughout the pregnacy. If you want some good solid calves, with the potential to get a really good one,Hairy Bear works as good or better on shorthorn cows, especially DV type cows.Everyone has their opinion, which is fine, but few actually know what they speak of.The AOD on DV..the HW on Shortys, especially DV...and Haiy Bear matings are all rock solid proven.

Manchild can throw some really nice calves, although I have heard that he also throws some high birth weights so it is a 50/50 I guess.
