This is the penguin list.

What sires had the most in herd registrations with NO outside of herd registrations.

Any other use patterns worth exploring besides yet another ad for the people who don't need it?

Which bulls on the top 25 list have the same prefix in 3 generations.

Which 3 generation bull with same prefix has the most registrations.

The top 25 is just so boring.

There is only 2 bulls on that list of would try and they are half brothers. Apparently I am not a very good angus breeder.

I can't tell what you're insinuating.  Is this list bad for the breed?  Why is that?  Is it semen distributors, politics, naivety, new money, trendiness, laziness, and/or etc?  I'm not an Angus guy, and genuinely curious.

How would it be possible to come up with a list of calves without registering them?              Not sure anyone would volunteer to put that list together.
If you are in a business of any kind you have to watch trends.
You don't have to agree with them.

List is lazy and not very useful. Mostly same breeders (present/past board members) every year

How many calves registered by non-owners or volume bull buyers.

Want to know unregistered use indicating please potential use for commercial replacements, yes people do this, i.e. Ali.

Want to know if some small producer had a good bull with stacked breeding rather than multiple trader prefixes.

Lots of creative ways to distill data rather than just another ad for sitz, sav, Conneally, gar, exar.

What about Bulls that moved numbers beyond parents with data

Seriously. This is a list of successful marketing rather than improvement.

If the Bulls on list are that good, why not report all calves. Is it that embarrassingly?

If Bulls are that good, calves should be recorded regardless of registration, the least of which is to report more accurate data. Sheesh.

the list has limited use without more transparency.

Ya we all know AI sire from big programs get over-used and over promoted.  No sense complaining about that. That's like complaining about seeing seeing another Chevy truck ad or a Ford truck ad that says they are the top seller for the millionth year in a row.

The real info on that list lies in the older sires who are still on the list 5, 8, or 10 years after first appearing.  These bulls are siring cattle who are either consistently marketable or are consistent in making good daughters.  Once you sort out which is which, there's some info a breeder can use to make herd improvements.

so maybe they could at least put the number of years on the list each bull has been there.

not really "complaining" about promoted bulls etc.  just commenting that the list as presented isn't very useful.

I agree with what has been said above but I will point out that there are a lot of cattle producers that don't have the time nor interest to follow the discussions that we all seem to take. I bred up some heifers to sell last spring and I needed to breed these heifers to a CE Angus bull that had name recognition credit. I bred them all to Bennett Fortress and low and behold he makes the list. It will possibly help me get these heifers sold and may bring a little more money hopefully.

CAB - That is exactly what I meant about sires that are consistently marketable.  Sometimes, for better or worse, a "name brand" sire is what pays the bills.  It is what it is.  Just part of the business.

Sorry, not an Angus breeder!

Why has the semen on the original gone to $5000 a dose then? There is nothing worse for me than buying something, only to see it on sale the next week!

FWIW I've never seen Final Answer semen go for much more than $250.  Lots of sons out there who do most of the same things.
