Tours at Hawkeye

How long does it take to tour Hawkeye's facility? Planning on making arrangements to see the bulls. Thanks!

Just took my animal science class there today and to look at the bulls. It could be as long or as quick as you want it. They took us through the storing and shipping area and the lab so the kids could see it. Anything that goes overseas to the EU you probably can't go look at as it is all under quarantine due to EU regulations. No big deal though as it is mainly dairy and some Wagyu cattle. If you check in you can go in the certified collection barn (certified to send overseas to certain countries) and today Travis the herd manager was in there as it was collection day. Choppin Wood, Master of Puppets, and Bodacious are in this barn. (On a side note - Choppin Wood looks tremendous IMO.) Just down the road about 1/4 mile is the domestic barn and you can basically walk in and out whenever you would like. Unstoppable, I-80, I-67, Walkie Talkie, and several other clubby bulls are located here. Some are just as impressive as they seem in picture and some aren't. It is a good trip and you can spend a lot of time there if you want. Monday's and Thursday's are collection days.

If you are coming from Virgina, why not also stop an NCG.  It's located on the north side of Des Moines and not really out of the way.  Many good bulls to view at this stud too.  Here is the most current list.
