How far Midwest? I've got a bull out at Hawkeye right now that I'm going to have to get home at some point.

Klint - I am in Iowa so the closer I can get him the better. I'm not sure when he will come acrossed the border as I just got him bought this afternoon on the phone. Thanks RW

I will be making at least one trip to the midwest, probably in early to mid May.I already have some cattle heading that way and may have more from our bull sale. I also have a bull at Hawkeye to come home.

I will be going to Canada to bring some animals down and will also be going to the Midwest (east of Iowa) soon.  I also have a bull at Genex in Billings that I will be picking up, I think we should all coordinate on this.  I would be willing to haul everything listyed here.

Thoughts?

RW - Did you spend some money up at SooLine?

I was at Sooline for part of their sale yesterday. What I saw was very strong. Haven't heard how it ended up but expect it continued strong to the end. Lots of American interest.

I am betting that he spent it a lot farther west in Fort McLeod.  Would be curious to here what he got.
Bought Lot 41 out of Brylors sale. Mulberry x Logan 210

JIT, I was watching the sale on the internet and the last draft of red bulls was fairly soft.  The blacks held up better.  They announced one of each color passing but not being there to see and with OBI in charge it is hard to tell how many they caught.  That first group of Kodiak sons was pretty steamy wasn't it.

Winning Champion pen in Denver didn't hurt them any this year.

What did the Kodiak semen end up going for? I heard earlier in the week that there was already 1 bid in at $150-$200/straw to take all 100 straws. I would have liked to have gotten 5 straws for flushing a few Gelbvieh cows with.

You are correct, in that there was someone who bid on all 100 straws, but Soo Line decided that it was not fair to allow anyone to purchase it all, so they put a limit of 20 straws per buyer. The semen all sold between $150 -$300 per straw. I never got all the names of the buyers, but it seemed to get spread around pretty good.

I am not surprised that the sale got soft in the back portion, as there are an amazing number of Angus bulls selling within 50 miles of this sale. I suspect there are in excess of 800 Angus ( Red and  Black) selling near here in the next month.

The sale averaged over $5000. Think they managed to get almost all the passed bulls sold after the sale ( at least I heard this, and there weren't many) This is a powerful program and it was a good set of  bulls.
