You might be. Bit late but, heelers tend to be 1person dogs,  take him/her with you everywhere, talk to them like you would a person.if the want to is there it will come out. The big word is stop what you are doing." that's enough" is mine.  Way to go and applause works .
Those dogs are way smarter than the guy they ride with, they want to please their master. Work off that

All of our heelers had 3 commands:  (1) sic 'em; (2) that's enough; (3) that's enough #@%&!*.  Really good dogs for bulls that brush up on big pastures.

We train Border Collies to train sheep and cattle, and we have two pups for sale out of the many time state fair winning cattle and sheep dog.
