Any recommendations for shows or livestock related events happening anytime between March 20-28, 2010?  My husband & I didn't really plan our wedding date too well when we got married while in Vegas for the NFR last year, so this year between work and the animals were not able to pack up and go anywhere for our first anniversary (Yes, I know it's not a requirement, but everyone needs to get out of town every now and then).  So we are thinking about going some where over spring break to celebrate.  I know Houston will be just finishing up, and we are considering it but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other events taking place that they thought would be fun. Doesn't have to be romantic, we're out to check out livestock, and we're using our anniversary to get out of town.  Neither of us have been to a large show and we'd really like to see other parts of the country.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The Oklahoma youth expo is right around that time. It is proclaimed as "the world's largest junor livestock show". Just google "OYE" and you should be able to find the website. There is a calendar on there to tell you when everything is going on.

You might catch the tail end of Houston's shows and their finals rounds of the rodeo about that time.

I sure don't believe the OYE would dissapoint if you wanted to see good cattle (or hogs or sheep), but only the final weekend (the 20th and 21st) appear to fit into your schedule.  That is the weekend of the market shows though, with all the grands being selected Sunday evening and the premium sale on Monday afternoon.

Like said previously, The HLSR will be going on.. thats the week that the Jr heifers are showing! They will have the champion market animals on display as well..and of course the concerts/rodeo that are going on. Houston itself can be a decent vacation spot, cant forget the beach and galveston!
