Triple C Bettis

Our heifer that we AIed to Bettis has finally calved. She was due Jan. 9th and waited to calve on Jan. 13th 2013, nice number 13 lol. But she didn't have any problems and now has a nice baby bull. Here in WKY we have been getting drenched with rain and more rain. We've been keeping her locked up in the barn and did let her calve in it. Hopefully we can get some sun and a little dry weather where baby can get out and play. Heifer really made a heck of an udder and baby really has nice foot placement and a pretty stride. Hopefully I can take some nice pics soon and post. As of right now I'm happy with Bettis.

You don't see a ton of Bettis calves but I have seen him work really well on certain matings.  Good luck with your calf!

We're breeding Dikeman's Sure Bet daughters to Bettis, and the last of the old Fleck-influenced %Simmental cows in our herd to his full sib, Singletary.
Won't have any Bettis calves on the ground 'til next fall, but should have some Singletarys hitting the ground in about 6 weeks.

We've used both Bettis and Singletary a little bit. Without seeing a whole slew out of either bull, the one thing I would say is Singletary is more consistent than Bettis. We did have some nice calves by Bettis, and we have a pretty nice two-year-old first-calf-heifer that looks like she'll make a pretty nice cow. My problem with Bettis is he doesn't improve everything you use him on. We had one pretty good cow that had a really plain one by Bettis. The Singletary calves are more uniform, and they're stouter overall. I plan to use Singletary again this spring.
