Trouble with steer wart vaccine

Had trouble with using wart vaccine.  After gave our 2 steers a wart vaccine shot because of a wart issue, they ate like before but didn't gain weight after the shot.  Only gained 1/4 of what they were before so were a lot lighter than should have been for fair.  It was like they weren't processing their feed like before.  Anyone ever have this problem?

We had similar issues w/wart vaccine last year.  We tried everything under the sun to try and get rid of his warts and used the vaccine as a last resort.  Well.... the steer went off feed for about 3 weeks and shucked his hair.  We were lucky that it was fairly early so we were able to get some hair back (with the help of hide & hair) and got him back to eating and putting weight back on.  To get him back to eating we took him off feed for a couple days to make him hungry and really pushed the sure champ pellets and stress tub and that got him back to normal.
