Cow losing teeth
« on: April 19, 2020, 02:28:59 PM »
Hi everyone! Hope yall are doing well during these crazy times!

Just bought a few cow calf pairs. Some were 8-9 years old. Found a set of teeth in the feeder this morning. Online it says cows wont lose teeth until 12 years of age. Please take a look at the pic and let me know your thoughts! Cows appear healthy and in good shape. Are they just much older than 8-9 or could something else be wrong?

I can't answer the question of what age cows loose teeth.   I just know that I regularly find teeth in the mangers like your picture where my cows from 18 months to 14 years are eating.   Never associated this with any problem.

Here where I live.......cows that are 7 years old are considered to have worn out teeth. I have always heard that 18 month bull calves loose teeth at 18 months and thus they can go down hill for a period of time.
People can't believe we have such a big moon for such a small town.
