Turkey hunting anyone??

As I drove in the yard this afternoon there were six toms strutting around in the pasture behind our house.  They're standing right where we put the pheasant feeder each winter--about 150 yards from our backdoor.  Sometimes they even come up on the lawn and forage out of the shrubs.

I don't want to hear any comments about my weed control program.  I just want to be kind to Canadians even if they thistles!! Ha, Ha!!

They are sure getting bold!!!   

They planted Rio Grandee turkeys in our county 10 to 15 years ago, They have multiplied and expanded their territory from a 10 mile radius to about a 30 mile radius. and made it through the 03 fires and the 07 fires. Article in the paper about a year ago said a motorcyclist was hospitalized after hitting a hen turkey chest high while traveling at 60 mph in the back country. About a month ago we had locus moving through the county, I do not know what was worse all the locus on the road or trying to avoid the turkeys that were chasing them.
