Gargan took a passle of recently weaned calves to the West Va State fair. His spring Hereford hiefer calf would not eat or drink, and had only had a halter on a couple times. Now-bear in mind, some of the Herefords at this show are very close to Nationally (Denver Texas) competitive-and some of the bred hiefers were very good. But like the calves out of umpteen breeds and matings I see them show up with, the little calf that acted up and didnt want to show WAS GRAND CHAMPION FEMALE. There was a smoke fat steer there he had raised that would certainely be in the hunt, and they were getting ready a super good young Char heifer calf when I left. HATS OFF-these guys produce calves that are very good-ANYWHERE O0

Thanks Mark, I'm a humbled  that my nephew won the Hereford division with her. Appreciation the kind words. I try to raise sound cattle and it paid off today. Always good seeing and chatting with you. Wish she'd drank the chlorinated water today to seen her true potential. No way we could have beat the supreme (simmy) and reserve supreme (Angus). I'm just happy that our state fair jr show gets tougher every year.

REally nice steer!
Thank you, really proud of how he matured out. It didn't hurt that he went to a top notch home either. They sure know what to do with a good one!
