We have been using Alias for a few years now and have got along with him pretty good but was thinking about changing it up a little.  Was looking at Uncle Kracker, Felony, and Captain Morgan.  Has anyone used these bulls?  I love the look of Felony but will be have enough power?  I want a bull that has the thickness, depth and volume.  Also I want to make sure he is clean on TH and PHA.

Captain Morgan will add depth, volume and thickness. Birthweights have all been below 80lbs. and no problems calving.

Uncle Kracker is TH and PHA Free.  Calf reports have been great and so far his BWs are varying from 80-85 give or take.  Here are a couple pics from some of our customers of Uncle Kracker calves.

Thanks for the info and pics Trausch Farms, Sams, and Coastal.
Is there any structure problems with Uncle Kracker or Captain Morgan?
I know all the Alias calves we have had are very calm.  How are these bulls calves?
Anyone know or heard anything on the Felony bull?

The Felony calves I have been around have good dispositions.  Thick calves with good bone under them.  Use a good cow and you should get a good calf.

i would not use captain morgan unless you have a very very clean fronted  cow...do not use kracker unless you have a very smooth shouldered cow...the two best looking ones i have seen are titanium, choppin wood and this new bull advertised here called david...they are the coolest looking to me...

Coolest looking new yearling prospects won't necessarily translate into the best calves. We haven't even decided which bulls are doing the best jobs from the last couple of years, but we're ready for the next flavor.

i agree to some degree.. but, look at captain morgan...unless you are trying raise abc, he will not work unless you breed him to some sweet fronted chi cow...i have seen his calves and they are slop out of run of the mill cows..uncle kracker?  the only calf photo i have seen of his progeny is by the owner which  works with chris wilson...enough said...the other one looks ok which is felony...jmo

How are the calving problems with FELONY, Madrid makes me have concerns about BW AND  his  epd's are way above high ...

Freddy -- we had 2 Felony calves last year.  Both calved unassisted out of some plain angus cross cows.  Calves were probably 10-15 lbs heavier than those cows had out of angus or simmental bulls.  He definitely added some bone to the calves and they are thick.  I could see where more powerful cow could have some issues, but he is probably no worse than a lot of other clubby sires.

I raised Uncle Kracker and would say he is vary comparable to Alias with more hair, lower BW calves, less likely to toe out, and as much or more maternal power behind him. His dam(3/4MA Hunk x Engineer) is going on 12 years and looks 1/2 her age with half my herd going back to her. Study his pedigree when you go back to HOO TOO, you have a MCF Cub donor cow x Kris Black's HOO DOO which i believe is what Alias goes back to. That picture of the heifer above is actually not mine, it is a local cattlemen by the name of Terry Gladman that I snapped the picture for with my phone. I do have a really nice heifer as well but do not have a recent picture due to bad weather and lots of mud, but trust me it is one of the best heifers I've raised and if you email me I'll send you an older picture that's on my phone. I bred him to maternal cows this first year and heifer reports are great. I would suggest breeding him to your carrier cows if wanting great steers, all my bull calves are out of PB AN and are descent. Ive yet to hear of any being pulled. He is the hairiest calf I've raised and one of the gentlest as well. I will be breeding him to my carriers this spring! He is papered 3/8 MA and am looking into getting him papered ChiMaine as well. If you have any more questions please get a hold of me. John Adams

i know you didnt bring up yellow jacket (dont blame you one bit due to his calves feed like dairy steers). . . but i have a YJ and my brother has a captian morgan that came directly from skinner back in october. now weighing 1170 showing in june. i fully believe that captian morgan is the next good bull. calves arent too extreme anywhere but they are SOUND SOUND SOUND with loads of bone, they grow hair good. and are extremely easy feeders and deep bodied. i swear by the captian morgan calf and the isnt even mine. . .  but people like yellow jacket, ive seen a morgan and yellow jacket eat the same feed. and the c.m puts him to shame

So do you have to worry about a little leather with the Captain Morgans in your opinion? The bull looks outstanding but I agree with what someone said earlier that it looks like you might have to watch the necks.]

I have used Madrid, and it was a calving nightmare, but I used Kojack last year, Felony's sire, and had great luck, would call him easy calving actually.  Calves grew nice, but were different than I thought they would be.  They were Flatter made, and super cool lookin.  Sold the heifers like wildfire, bulls didn't have enough for my commercial guys

hes for sure not as cool as the yellow jacket on the front end. but by no means is he trashey. its not something i would be too horribly worried about but i dont think it would be smart to breed to a super thick necked cow. but i moderate necked one- id say it isnt that big of a gamble

All the info everyone has talked about has help me.  Been thinking about using Uncle Kracker.  I have more cattle that have a chi front to them.  What does anyone know about John Wayne?
