Unlimited Potential Sale 2013

This is a picture of last year's high selling heifer and the ad that will go into the September Shorthorn Country magazine. I will try to update this post with pictures of calves as we get them. I'm really excited about this group of calves!

That's a pretty nice looking heifer, What is her pedigree? what is she bred to now?

She is a Sull Gncc Eldorado out of our donor cow CF DZ Fool 37 TPX. I believe she has been bred to a bull named Byland Proud Jazz. A Jake's Proud Jazz bull owned by Byland Shorthorns. Thanks for the comment!

Are you crossing some of the A&T genetics on the show lines or keeping them seperate? We are still trying to pick the lots for our first sale in 5 years and we are finally getting some selected. I find that the hardest part of a sale!
Any new pics of those calves from last spring?

Okotoks, yes, we are absolutely crossing the A&T genetics with show genetics. Especially with using A&T Renegade and GS&J Captain Rob. Below is a picture of a bull calf sired by A&T Renegade out of a CF Star Bucks first calf heifer. Unassisted birth, nursed in 30-45 minutes and grew like a weed! I also have a really good Renegade bull calf out of a DF Waco first calf heifer. Both also go back to traditional Maine Anjou genetics. Renegade was extremely consistent with calving ease. Also, I just seen at our county fair a Renegade heifer out of a Proud Venture first calf heifer that we sold. She was really good, slick fronted with a long fancy neck. Renegade is mixing quite well with the show genetics.

This solidifies my constant nagging for the proliferation of non-show-bred Shorthorn cattle. Just look, and see how, with this calf, especially, how the blend adds plenty, without reducing Jacksquat........

Thanks and I agree totally. Here is another bull calf sired by A&T Renegade unassisted out of a DF Waco first calf heifer.

Thanks for the compliments Duncraggan. I couldn't be happier with Renegade's performance on his first calf crop. The calves are also more eye appealing than I suspected which is an extra bonus.

Thanks and you know, I forgot to double check while we had her in. I was thinking scurred when I checked her the first time before she was weaned but they really look like horns. So, I don't know is the best answer I can give right now... lol

She is scurred...

Doc, that is a very good question. I have a sale lineup and I will include it here. Not sure how it will turn out but it's worth a try since you asked. Thanks for the interest!
