This received some attention on here a few weeks ago after the 5 horses and trailer were stolen from the Rodeo Team Barn @ Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR.  4 of the horses were found tied in the woods in OK a few weeks later, malnourished and dehydrated but otherwise in ok shape.  1 horse, "Credit Card", was found shot, neck slit, and dismembered a few weeks later.  Many people had suspected the horses may have been stolen by a competitor.  An arrest was made yesterday in the case, the person responsible for the thefts, a freshman girl who turned 19 today, was one of their very own team members.  I dont have all the info yet, but from what I hear she was apparantly romantically involved with the student who rode Credit Card and apparantly had said she wanted the horse dead.  Beyond that Idont know any motives, she has her first court appearance tommorow.  I think she is charged with 2 counts of Felony Theft over $25,000 for Credit Card and one other horse, and 4 counts of Felony Theft $5,000 - $25,000 for the other 3 horses and the trailer.  The horses were found near her families property in OK.  There are 2 other suspects, who I presume are her mother and step father.  They say the truck that stole the trailer matched vehicles driven by both, and her step dad is the one responsible for killing and dismembering Credit Card for easier disposal.  The state of Oklahoma is also going to be charging her with 6 counts of bringing stolen property across state lines and 5 counts of animal cruelty.
I know they have set up a scholarship fund in Credit Card's name, his owners have stated that rather than be reimbursed for him they would rather a scholarship be set up in his name.  I know a lot of people from around the country are donating to the fund. I will try to get the information on that.

People that abuse animals are the lowest forms of life.  Leaving 4 horses tied up in the woods without food or water to literally wither away is one of the sickest things I have ever heard of.  Throw the book at her.

A friend of mine in Magnolia found a link to the actual arrest affidavit.  I attached a link.  I agree, she needs the book thrown at her.  Also according to this affidavit, she had been scouting the barn and had even sent texts in the weeks leading up to the theft alluding to the theft, why didnt someone inform their teammates???

I have followed this case a little bit, and I will say this ---

If she had donbe this to MY horses, they would still be trying to find her and her co-harts. In fact I doubt if they ever would, let's just say I am old school, stealing a horse in the 1800's was a hanging offense, as far as I am concerned it still is! Hope she stays nice and warm in HELL!

To take out her emotional jealousy on those horses is beyond anything I can come up with, especially the roping horse -- it wasn't his fault she was declined a date -- wow -- just beyond belief!

No jail time can ever replace what she has done, and for those of you who are horse people, I am sure you understand the meaning here!

Sad deal - just a sad deal!

I have a feeling she probably wont be on facebook for a while.  She appeared in court this evening. Naturally her attorney claims she is innocent.  Bail was set for $100,000 and she is still in jail at this time.  The judge said if she was to make bail she can have no contact with anyone else in the case and she can not return to SAU's campus.  Monday night 2 men in McCurtan County OK were arrested and charged with possession of stolen goods, but have not yet been tied to any other part of this case.

And this, folks, is why the ones of us who DON'T treat animals this way have to fight against the likes of PETA and HSUS:( Cruel, sick minded individuals get the attention for the horrible things they do and the ones of us out in the blinding snow, feeding our livestock, get no credit for the great treatment. This sick girl must have thrown out some warning signs a long time ago. As an old roommate of mine once said "You can't hide crazy."
