I'm not a vet, but I've had to deal with this before. I tied a thin doctor's string around the warts and they eventually fell off. Everyday I would clean the area around the warts to be safe. But don't listen to me, I may be wrong.

Also the clorox bleach pen will not drip into their eyes so you can use it too.

I'm sorry, I posted a response thinking ringworm not warts. The bleach pen won't work for warts. (:))
We pull them off with tweezers or something similar. You want to try & get the roots. Just let it bleed out on it's own. I never had any luck with Wart Off.  There is a vaccine for warts which some people use. Our vet told us to feed the warts back to the calf, provides the same type of immunity as the vaccine.
Sorry for not reading previous post better!

I thought I posted a response to this - but my brain must have frozen ---couple of questions
How many warts?
Where on eye - top lid, corner, bottom lid?
Big floppy warts or flat warts?
Other warts on calf?
Other calves around with warts?
More info needed - hopefully will be able to give you better answer! DL (cow)

If they are floppy, you can probably pull them off fairly easy.Use tweezers or something like that. Just let the area bleed out. My vet suggests feeding the warts back to the calf, builds up the immunity.

Warts - vile little buggers - as you probably know they are caused by a virus - actually lots and lots of different wart viruses - which is one reason the vaccine doesn't always work ...I assume this is a show heifer? so we really want them gone?

My basic theory of wart removal just about everywhere but around the eyes  is to grab the sucker with a hemostat squeeze and pull -that is almost like a mini - vaccination - you are injecting the virus into the calf and they (hopefully it will build up immunity and cause the others to disappear)

When I check in cattle I pretty much ignore warts on the eye lids because there is really no easy way to make them go away and it is hard to give advice without actually seeing them - how close to the eye they are etc and you don't want to do anything to make the calf head shy etc

If they are long and floppy and on the eyelid itself  (ie if you were to push on the wart you would be pushing onto eyeball) I would be hesitant to pull them off - that is pretty tender skin and it is good if you can apply some "holding pressure" when you pull - I would be inclined to use the string technique that KS showman described - but it sounds like you have more than a few - so it might be worth trying the wart vaccine - usually you need a dose and a booster.

Sorry about your calf, good luck with the warts, DL

DL, what is your thoughts on feeding warts back to the calf? Is it an old folk remedy or does it work?
The one time we gave the vaccination to a heifer for warts she got a huge out break for them all over her body. Haven't tried it since. Any thoughts?

I sure know people who feed warts back to the calf and if you have the wart what better place to put it but back into the calf! ;D
It does make a modicum of sense that the ingested virus could stimulate the immune response.....DL

ps now that I am the moderator I am overwhelmed with the responsibility - red and cowz don't abandon me now! (cow)

The old timers always fed the warts back to the calf Or dried it out,  mixed it with penicillin & injected it into the calf.

Personally I use nitrogen from the semen tank to freeze the wart, cut it off and quit.  the nitrogen will keep it from bleeding a lot.  A 6cc syringe tube does well for the holder,  you need to be pretty fast tho,  takes about 4 cc of n2
