I have been reading about the outbreak of West Nile in and near Dallas. This morning I read where they have begun spraying the city with an " EPA approved chemical" (probably doesn't have much of a chance to kill anything in that case). Not all politicians are in agreement with this practice the article stated.

Not all politicians were in agreement either. Councilman Sheffie Kadane sent a last-minute plea for the mayor to change his mind, the Dallas Morning News reported.

"I implore you to consider natural herbicides as an alternative to spraying," he wrote. "Please do not spray!"

Of course herbicides kill plants and insecticides kill bugs. But more to the point perhaps they should give the people who are sick some "natural" medicine and bring in a witch doctor and a soothsayer while they are at it.

"Sheffie Kadane" sounds like a good west Texas name  ::) but  if you want a synopsis of what is wrong with this country, it's that the people we elect don't have enough sense to get in out of the rain. There are elections from local to Presidential coming up this fall. I urge you to do your due diligence to learn about the people you are voting for and make your decision from  an opinion based on facts and not on emotion or because they are a member of a certain party.

Anybody that does not live in Dallas or Fort Worth tends to think that they are essentially one and the same.  They are not.  Dallas is a synonym for disfunctional.  Nobody in Dallas gets along with anyone else.  The school board hates each other, the city council hates each other, etc etc.  This is an example of how the simplest are usuallyimpossible to get done there.  I work in Fort Worth (which is infinitely better in my opinion) but live 100 miles from office so my kids don't grow up with this nonsense affecting their every day lives.

Me and my buddies used to chase the mosquito trucks on our bicycles.  Kids just don't know how to have fun anymore. ;D

The West Nile stuff is pretty serious.  I think a dozen or so people have died in Dallas the last few weeks.  It is Texas though.  Fools are allowed to have a voice here, but generally ignored.  I'm guessing you could lose half the population of California to West Nile and they still wouldn't even start to consider spraying.

I live in Dallas and my tenant who lives next door has West Nile. Supposedly they sprayed the area last night (not for sure now) but the mosquito population appears to still be heavily infested. It seems like every time I open the door, one or two mosquitoes makes it in the house.

Does any type of spraying actually work?  We can bomb a full acre to where you cant even breathe to prep for a party and they still seem to back in hours.

Gov moon  beam sprayed for fruit fly long time ago.

Also the population of ca would and is moving to Texas so it's doubtful your scenario would be limited to 50%

One could only hope.
