There is so much talk about keeping heatwave daughters as replacements due to small pelvis' and poor milking, but can anyone tell me if they have had good luck keeping heatwave granddaughter's out of good milking, easier calving females?

That's good to know.  I have a pretty good Powerhouse heifer out of a heavy milking Angus cow.  With shorthorn on the sire side and this cow she should have a chance as replacement.  What are your thoughts on a Leroy Brown heifer out of a good milking Simm/Ang cow?  Any chance as a replacement?

Haven't gotten past the 1st calf yet, 4 for 4 went to the sale barn after c-section, we are giving one last chance on the best cow family we have, if she can't raise a calf we will never keep another Heat Wave heifer!

We have a crop of Golden Childs with their first calf that as a group have done nicely.  Almost through winter and I haven't noticed any with poor milk.  No calving trouble on any bred to Angus bulls on their first calf.

I have a Golden Child that should calve in April so that gives me good hope for her too. Thanks.
