See now that's a bizzare comment......sometimes when they say weird things like that just in passing, it makes it hard to understand what they are saying.

I enjoy watching  brother judge.  Sometimes I hear him use some of those terms and phrases.  Overall, he's a pretty blunt person and doesn't change that "trait" when he judges cattle.  Last month he judged a show locally and I was standing there watching.  A gentleman who was standing beside me (he didn't know I'm his sister) and I heard him say to the man next to him, "He's blunt isn't he."  I giggled to myself. ;D

I wish I was going to the show next weekend he's judging at. I'd love to see him in action!!!

Absolutely nothing wrong with blunt as long as they are making sense ;)  In fact, I'd prefer blunt, but true and specific reasons, than someone that fluffs through them.

Back in the 80's, the fluffier the better. Kind of glad to hear kids examining functionality -linked physical traits, as  observed and mentioned in reasons. Back then, contests  were won by using a dictionary and thesaurus to describe the leggy critters.

Were'nt the 80s about the most miserable decade of the cattle industry?    funny all these 65-75 yr old guys with cattle came up in that era and boy oh boy they sure like those big old girls.. All you have to do is mention Charolais and most of them just get all reminiscent and tell 14 stories about how great they were....

Not exactly a term but its a good story..

about 2000 or so We were setting at the heifer calf furturity sale in Louisville... On the block were from left to right.. Cagwin..... Brooks..... and Hunsley......

A group of us were in the stands, having a good time as usual.. our main source of enjoyment in that setting is predicting what will be said and who will say it when certian firms cattle or certian pedigreed cattle are on the block... it really is fun.... anyway  there was a Cag  backer in the ring and the bids on the heifer just died.. She really was not all that great but anyway  all of a sudden Cags stopped the sale made a comment and turned to Hunsley and put him on the spot right there... Well he was not paying any attention at all so he stuttered and stammered around for about 30 seconds and then his words came... He said in a nutshell

" Folks bla bla bla look at this heifer she is way under the money  bla bla bla....this heifer will do the buyer some VALUABLE DAMAGE...Then in person in the crowd who will remain nameless says ..." What the hell is valuable damage."....and about 50 people laughed... Just about every year after that we have named a bull calf that just for fun!

One of the ones that really gets me is SCROTAL - look at that scrotal ...scrotal what?? and in reality we are talking about a sack - doesn't matter what your scrotal looks like as long as it is fulled with the right stuff!  Not exactly judging term, but it is one that kinda bugs me! ;D
