In this crazy world our sales facility was canceled due to the covid 9 virus and now we are an online sale.
This bull is one of the lots and wondered if he checks any boxes as steer option. Totally quiet with the best hair coat but that is not my market...

He is thick.  Birth weight and frame score?  I don't suppose there is any info on tenderness.

Lots of good things.  Needs a better top line and fixed around the tailhead, better fronted to fit the show steer deal around here.  Looks like a decent choice for some good feeders, though.

Hes thick looks pretty moderate but not showy front to rear need a thick but very pretty fronted balanced cow-I sure wouldn"t breed him to a heifer-OR anything with big BW genetics That means a majority of popular US show genetics-One shot of Hot Commodity IS NOT GONNA MAKE THAT WHOLE WOUND UP COW KILLER DEAL OF MULTIPLE GENERATIONS JUST DISAPPEAR-I bet some commercial guy will be all over him Hes a PRIME example tho-as to why Id like to see some U S  clubby on easier calving Canadian Genetics-J I T did it years ago  and had a really good white double vision or Stuff  (I think) that he used commercially and didnt seem to have problems with  and the Roan Double Vision bull more people have seen pics of Not to mention the Double Trouble light roan Moose Gary Bucholtz et al showed O0

Side question:  Any idea if and when bulls might be able to come to the States with the border closing?  Perhaps delivering a bull to Iowa is considered essential?

As far as I know the border is not closed to trucking of products or livestock but things seem to change daily. On a plus side for American buyers our dollar is nose diving, so $1000 Canadian is now about $700 US.

The couple of Firestorms DU has had were easy calving.

How and where do you get a tenderness test?

Here is the link to his EPD's, performance tab has his scan info andhis performance results, he also has a 50K. DNA results on DNA tab.

Dr. Allen Williams has an ultrasound program that his technician Clay Nash uses and travels around and does it.  I had every animal on the place done two and a half years ago.  He also does the usual ultrasound also.  Some use DNA markers but I am  not much of a believer of that.

thick, thick and thick.

seems to put his rear feet down hard. seems terminal to me. which is ok. not sure i'd want him on commercial cows without seeing some during calving season.

I do t see info on tenderness. Only a brief mention.

At the bottom of the article it talks about it.  Maybe not everything that you ever wanted to know, but there is information and also contact information so you can learn more.

I do not know that but it cost me $10 a head.  I did wait until he was in the general area.

There are only a couple of CUP lab technicians in our area. At the present we try to submit BW, WW, YW, Scan info, 50K and DNA tests.....I would add tenederness to the mix but it would have to come with our current scans as there really is a limit to the costs incurred to try and verify your product!

Here is the other Hill Haven Fire Storm 28C bull selling in the sale. He is an ET out the Frimley Wedgewood Clare 2W cow.

I do not believe that CUP labs are capable of doing the ultra sound for tenderness.  If you want to do the tenderness ultra sound I would call Clay Nash.  Tenderness is not the only thing he does, he does all the usual too but he also includes tenderness.  Kit Pharo has been using this for many years.

Prolly a dozen bulls in this sale that I like better than either of these.  The Red Bull’s rear third is oddly disproportionate to the rest of his body.  The lot 4 Red Bull on the other hand is very good.

There is a really good selection of bulls. This guy is I think one of the best ever raised here. I don't select on EPD's but they are another tool in the tool box. He has some EPD's in the top 1% of the breed but actual weights and scan data to back them up. He had a heavier birth weight than some like but he was born while we were at the sale last year and up running around when we got home. I personally would question the value of a mature
that couldn't pop a calf his size out but that's a whole long thread....  ;D
He has 50K genomically enhanced EPD's. Free by pedigree of DS,TH, PHA and myostatin variants. He has BW, WW and YW's and a back scan contributing to his outstanding EPD's. Top 1% of the breed for WW, YW, REA and $F, Top 2% $BMI, marbling, ST, top 5% YG, Top 10% TM, CEM, Top 15% CW. Sired by an ET son of The Grove Kookaburra W735 and Diamond Whitney Maid 14W and out of an ET daughter of Crooked Post Grissom 24T and Kenlene Secret Maid 6T(bred by the late Phil Butterfield) 100% both Canadian and American herd books.

I like all three or four of the Favs for different reasons-I think the freaky one would be useful and could change a good structured cow Given the genetics hes the most difficult to replicate as anything ive seen out of the great North Ex Bar chose (from the three or four) by far the most attractive balanced performing bull-He would be a good one to use on(older) daughters of the Freaky Red One-The one Bell M has  that won the Farm Fair ( knee jerk take)  is the closest combination of sorts of what i like in the previous two Okotoks  bull falls right there with the performance bulls in a neater package-looks good  for females Overall-its a real good bunch of bulls-and wed be hard pressed to have 3 breeders produce AND SELL a group like that IN ONE SHOT down here.JMO O0
