What happened was Trevor Grey Cattle and the Truth showed their lack of class again and wrote inappropriate and inaccurate threads and got it pulled.  Congratulations to the Shorthorn breed and Shorthorn Plus on winning such a fantastic honor.

We like for our shorthorns to stand high in the "real world" instead of "in class"!  sorry

I'm just wondering why you use show ring genetics then?

yeah i can see your point. Being sound, feminine, good boned, with good thickness and plenty of body, this heifer will have NOTHING to offer the real world...

I know it doesnt mean much now_but the Schillings in Illinois pretty well started the interest in Nick Stiekes KABA cattle-in the early-mid nineties-and they were cool as can be,right from jumpstreet. Schilling got pretty fed up with things and said to me_I DONT NEED ANYBODY MAKING MY MIND UP FOR ME-food for thought O0

Was it the showring genetics that failed or your poor stocker cow base? Great+poor=meteocre. Just food for thought

Well considering the same cows can crank out good ones, on different bulls..  you know the kind of calves that actually turn a profit with limited input...

You know like this..  One stupid person is a stupid person, but one stupid person + all his friends are a bunch of idiots who feed off each other's intellegence (or lack of) and come up with some great plan (such as JPJ needs bred to every beef cow on the WIU farm, cuz he's the greatest thing going and can be the savior for the commercial industry needing shorthorns) Straight from the mouth of one of those "stupid people".

So the cow from this quote isn't show ring genetics?
"I know this picture is at a funky angle for both.. but to give you an idea.. This is our KOOL Cow, and her Sept bull calf sired by Dr. Feelgood...a  son of Wildside... He's a nice calf.. she's a nice cow..  Cow is from an Improver 57 dtr.  Cow is also double clean! " Quote from The Truth
Recently you were talking about breeding Clubbie - seems that would be the show ring and involve animals that are not commercial so are you just being negative or am i missing what your program is about?

1. The commercial industry doesn't want shortys so there is no need.  2. Because one bull didn't make great ones out of piss poor cows all showring genetics have no value? Go back to the milking parlor jerry spilled the teat dip. (That's something where your opinion matters).

I took it away after receiving over 4 "report to moderator" posts.  Steer Planet doesn't have to be happy and go lucky, but if you are going to drag someone into it make sure you got your facts straight.

I will be honest with you SP is not my full time job, I take at least 3 calls on SP regarding questions about posting in the classifieds.  I resize photos for people, open accounts, or just generally try to help out.  Sometimes I just don't have time to dissect at thread to find fallacies and half truths.  I do my best on here to be fair.  The other moderators do the same.

Try to keep things in perspective...We are only on this rotating rock for so long...Have a <beer> tonight on me and think about all the good things in life.

It saddens me to write this but, for goodness sake, y'all need to get out of the box.  If you are a died in the wool, show cattle minded cattle breeder, then for all means, go breed what you can sell.  If you are a died in the wool____fill in the blank____, then go breed what you can sell.  I have never witnessed such a bunch of simple minded folks that hold piles of animosity to whoever is not doing EXACTLY what you are doing.  I have worked with plenty of show people, commercial people, seedstock people, and non-cattle people.  They are all trying to do the same thing....promote their product.  If y'all can't promote your product withour throwing everyone else under the bus, then for goodness sakes, take an anger management class.  Jees, this used to be fun... a little banter among like minded people.  Now it has turned into South vs. North.  My grandpa told me to keep my mouth shut and let your product do the talking.  Please remember that everyone on this board is ATTEMPTING to sell a product (beef) and it is really riduculous to read the ineptitude of simple minded folks bashing each other over stupid shit.  I guess that I will pull a self inflicted AJ and get off of here until folks realize that diversity is a GOOD thing.  peace out....
