What if there were one day an Open Steer Show.
Whats everyones opinions?
Would it be failure or success?
Who would be in it to win it or leave it to the juniors?
Thought it would be an interesting topic......

I have always thought the same thing.  I would like to see and open heifer and steer show open to all people of all ages, lets be honest to an extent that is what it is now.

I always thought that'd be an awesome thing to see as well, but I agree with hamburgman, we get closer to that every year

Guess I missed hearing about it. What's done with the steers after the show same as any? Didn't know of buyers were. Only generous to juniors.

The Calgary Steer Show is an open steer show. The steers show by breeds, but there is a junior division.

I'll tell you what...If there was an open steer show with major premiums , I would think you would see Bobby May, Bobby Maddox, and Bonham being very competitive. Brad Hook might even get in on the action. One thing for sure , you would see some awfully pretty steers with one heck of a clip job.

The only difference would be that the people at the end of the halter would have a much higher likelihood of being the person who actually owns and cares for the steer.
