I'll bit: worst mating of mine this year is a Byland Mission heifer calf from a Kool cow.  The cow usually doesn't miss this bad-- but I really do not like this calf.  Big, skinny, shallow, and not very wide best describe her.  I thought she looked real good pre weaning-- but boy after weaning she started getting framey.  We'll giver her a few months- and go from there.

I wonder how many people's best calf and worst calf are full sibling ET's?

One of our most disappointing matings this year was one of our Mossy Oak donors bred to Believe in Me. We were really excited about this mating and are pretty bumbed how it turned out.  We will just have to stick to using monopoly.

Really there are probably way too many to mention! I mean if you guys are like me you have already forgot about the calves on the ground and trying to figure out which bull to use to get the calves you thought you should of had this year! Calves that I am not impressed with on any mating are Walks Alone ( to straight, tight, little puds for me), Bodacious (just calves), Choppin Wood (I think they will end up being ok in the end being later maturing cattle like his daddy's seem to be). I guess they might be like the UpGrades and be my favorites at weaning, but right now I wouldn't use either bull again.

my worst mating is DH2 on heatwave cows.  didn't get very many.  one is ok, fancy but way too straight.  One is soooo straight in the back legs she is crippled and both front feet turn out really bad.  They just arent good enough structured.

Many thanks to those of you who have replied to this thread. If we had to depend on the bull promoters foe honest answers, we would only get the truth by experiment. I find the reply about Stands Alone to be interesting. He must get the monkey mouth gene from his dam, because his half brother Point Taken also has it. I love this topic.

Glad to hear its not just me with the Walks Alone. I was very excited for the calves to come and got dissappointed. I only have 2 and they are only a week old but they toe out and are poorly structured. One cow is a WMW and the other was a WMW granddaugher and both are really good cows.

Had this one the other day... Won't mention Sire or Dam info other than it was a pregnancy purchased out of a pretty big name sale.  Monster hip and bone.  Prolly gonna end up treating him with a shot of lead though.

TMagic and JackPot-

Don't throw out those WA calves yet, they do tend to mature and come around fast as they get on feed.  Feed and time won't help structural problems though...  :-\
