Hi to all, I am doing a bit of a poll here to see what size round bales people are using on their farm?

Please vote in this poll and share what size round bales you use on your farm.

Here in Saskatchewan and many parts of the great plains region we mostly use 5'x6' bales, that's what I make on my farm as well.

Just to clarify, what I mean is what size baler do you run? Most people here use 5'x6' balers but typically make their bales 5'x70" or so as opposed to making them the full 72" height.

Thanks for voting and sharing!

1.  Whatever is cheapest (accounting for feed value)
2.  Whatever a truck will bring to my place
3.  Need to be no more than about 1400# because that is what my tractor will handle
4.  If I haul them, prefer 3x3 or 3x4 squares, but also the 4' wide rounds so I don't have to put on the oversize load sign or invite law enforcement scrutiny
5.  Most around here use 5' wide balers, so that is usually what we feed

4x5. I have heard that 4x6 fall over in the field.

That would have to be some really lopsided bales.  4x6 is pretty much the standard around here - most truckers won't touch 5 wides and there's just not enough hay in anything else to be worthwhile to haul, buy and sell.  If you're just putting them up for your own use, get whatever size suits you.
