My Angus cow finally calved and my heifer is of age to be bred. Any suggestions as to what might work with them. They are both unregistered Angus. The cow has had 4 calves all small but no problems and is a great mother. Some things that I am looking for possibly are possibly a bald or blaze face, would like to add some more thickness, the cow is very slender legged so that could use help. The cow has a great temperament and the heifer has not been a problem either, but her mother was a little edgy mainly seemed to have an alpha attitude with the herd. I would like to keep primarily black coloring but some coloring would be o.k. . I am not necessarily looking for club calf but not opposed to that either. I would rather look for heifer improvement qualities over bull/steer improvements. All of this being said any suggestions would be welcomed.

It has not stopped raining long enough to get good pictures but these are what I have.

For Simmy influence consider Grizzly for your heifer(Guyer), and Mo Magic for your cow.  Both will add thickness, bone, and you may get blaze or white faced.

Good Luck!

On the cow what have the four calves been angus on angus? If you move toward some of the clubbier bulls you are going to loose that consistancy in birthweight. If you are wanting to make replacements for your herd I like the idea of 3C macho on the momma. He is not going to give you hair but he will give you a nice momma with some top and dimension. Looks like your momma cow needs some top in her and could use some width. She has enough side to her and could just be the picture.
Heifer- her front 1/3rd needs cleaned up from the picture only. It amazes me how many rocket fronted Angus sires that have come out in the past few years. You ahve a ton of options for her in that sense. There are alot that are calvking ease as well. The ones I ahve used with success were Northern Improvement and SS Traveler T510 6807. I have never had luck with Ali and he wasn't conssitent with our genetics. Who Made Who might work with her and would give you that awesome front.
Good luck!

OH Breeder thanks for the comments. The cow definitely needs more across the top as well as probably everywhere else. She has had 3 Angus and one Limmi calf. The heifer also needs some top as well as some other cleaning up. I know that these are not high end animals thus I am trying to breed up. Any comments are welcomed and will not be taken personal. I have enough experience to know they need  improving but not enough to know exactly what. The biggest plus is the cow has been consistant on breeding back and caring for her calves. I appreciate any and all help positive and negative. I figure if you are unwilling to hear the shortcomings of your animals you will never improve what you have. Again thanks for all of the suggestions and keep them coming.

The picture below is the cows limmi sired bull at 18 months old.

3C Macho- give you some hip, little bit of bone and maybe a blaze face , would be registerable as a half blood simmental

If you want to keep the cows calves for replacements I suggest using some OCC bulls on her to thicken up her replacement females. Just a thought. You could also save up and put an egg in her to upgrade your herd. That is the fast way to get better genetics.
