Hi folks,

Don't know if this has ever been posted on here before or not.  I apologize if it has.

Just wondering what would be some dream matings of your alls choice?  Everyone is allowed to use their imagination on this one.  It doesn't matter if you do or do not own semen on a certain bull, or if you own or have access to a certain cow or not.  You can choose any breed you want also.  :)

This should be quiet interesting to see what different types of mating combinations that many of you folks come up with.

I'd have to pick Wag's Harrietta cow try Habanero on her.
or Jimmy Jame's Fatty Patty & Meyer's 734.

Either Remitall Choice Mint, or LR Randolph 14th, bred to Kitty Clay 3rd.

Okay...that's my delusional, pipe-dream mating. As many of you Posters on SP would agree, I often get caught up in how things SHOULD BE within the Shorthorn Breed. Forgive me. You must understand, I am what you get when a son of a Commercial Cow-calf producer shows Shorthorns as a Junior Cattlemen. I had the blessing of God to learn the realities of "Commodity Feeder Calf Production" in the Ozarks ,versus the more-modern "value-added" type scenario that the bulk of you guys are familiar with. I am envious. Y'all get rewarded for producing calves of known, proven genetics and health, which, in turn, gives the Feeder and Packer some risk management. We're still , in this part of the world, simply avoiding discounts, and staying at the Coffee Shop 'til Noon.

Back when I was newly re-acquainted with Shorthorns, I was "on fire" for progress, and probably said "change" more often than a Barrack Obama campaign speech. Papaw laughed at me when I told him what those Ear Tags  with the numbers and Bar-code were ( MFA's vaccination protocol). "Gary, them little %$$%@!@^$ tags are gonna wind up in the mud beside somebody's squeeze chute! That ain't how WWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEE do things around here."

My current-day, reality dream mating would maybe be one of several possibilities. JPJ and RB Golden Chain ( Moore's donor), would be one. Another would be JPJ on a Red Angus cow that was sired by NEO-SHO Millenium and out of a High-Marbling-type pedigree cow. Stumpy's TM Gus ( I firmly believe that he has greatest potential I've seen in a loooong time to be more than a Show-calf Sire ) lbred to an Emulous-bred Angus cow would be another, or, maybe Homedale Blizzard mated with a deeper-bodied Brangus cow, because, if You'd look at the blue-roans used for Mamas in beef production scenarios where fertility and longevity are priorities, well............I won't say anything else.
Or, I could just buy embryos from guys like Ralph Larson (www.YYDurhamCattle.com), and avoid all the selection decisions.

I'd like to see HR Mona Lisa W684Y crossed on WHR Sonny 8114---I don't believe its ever been done!!

I also agree with Red,  Harietta  X  Habanero  seems like it would be amazing!!

I can't say this would be a dream mating but I would sure like some progeny out of Jake's Proud Jazz and Roan Sue.

What about Proud Jazz on T90?

I really like Roan Sue, and I think she would (and has) work(ed) well with many bulls.  I know that some people have been quoted as saying that she is one of the most eye- pleasing females to ever walk.

Jakes Proud Jazz on a  Gus(avatar bull) X Red Cloud X T90 cow
This is the dream mating I have had in mind since I picked out the cow that will be grandma to the dream calves. Give me a couple of years but I'll let you know what I get!

I saw roan sue last summer at trans ova. shes real good looking for as old as she is. i think jpj would probably throw them too small for show purposes though. Sonny x HR Mona Lisa would be interesting. I like the results from the mating of sonny to vortec mona lisa's. I prefer the T90 line myself. You can never have too much T90 in a pedigree! (thumbsup)

Jeff you guys will be in for a treat when those Gus x Red Cloud x T90 calves start coming if they haven't already. The Kendra x 7026 son we had really worked with our cows that went back to Red Cloud even though some of them were pretty common cows. I would guess Gus would do the same. I think next year we will be breeding some of the daughters out of our bull to Gus. I think the results of lining up the Kendra cow family and Red Cloud all at the same time could be really exciting.

I think I would have to say Cunia and Cette-La.  I'm not chasing ghosts.  I think it would have been that good.  Some of you know Cette-La's reproductive fate though, otherwise, I think there'd have been a chance it would have been done.

Ain't it funny, when you take a boy from the Ozarks and give him a little education, he seems to piss people off. The very, exact, same thing has been said about me on several occaisions.
take it easy on ol' Brad. He's just a Springfield Kickapoo High School Graduate, trying to make it in this world.
