What would you breed a Macho daughter to?

I have a yearling Macho x WMW first calf heifer. I will probably breed her end of April beginning of May. She is registered Half Blood simmi. She is more moderate frame but very feminine. Adequate muscle and nice top. Udder is really nice and she is milking great. Doesn't have a ton of hair. Kind of hard haired. I bred her to Northern Improvement and we got a great heifer calf. I guess for the next one I would like a tick more bone and size. What would you put back on her?

My thoughts not sure if they would give me a stout enough steer

I do'nt know if I have the nerve to use Headliner, All Aboard or even one of the newer clubby sires.

I think Olie would work great on your Macho.  I used him on some macho 1/2 bloods last fall and will have calves out of this mating in September.  If you heifer is really small you may want to use Lucky Man as he will add a smidge more frame.  Good luck.

Where would I find a picture of Lucky man.
She is smaller framed but has plenty of body depth and width. Probably a frame score 4.5 to 5. Clean fronted and very attractive pattern baldy.

Yes, but have you priced Dream On semen lately?

She is kind of slick haired. Now her heifer calf believe or not out of Northern Improvement has some hair. Dream On's to me are either really good or just plain. I am not against using him but wanted to give her a tick more bone and size. I don't believe Dream On will add any size.

Where would Peer Preasure fall in this deal? At least from the picture he looked pretty good-hope Im not Messing up-he had a lot of Meyer look and lower third-along with calving ease

I dont' know anything about Peer Pressure, but I also thought about Trendsetter? I have never seen the bull in person and would like to see him move and from behind. Last thing I want to do is flatten her out. Trendsetter takes a heck of a picture.

the pictures of the Grandmaster calves look real promising and i heard rumor is BW epd has gone DOWN since he was a yearling

OB, How do you like your Northern Improvements ? I bred several Shorties to him this past fall. I thought I could get some good quality half blood replacements from him.

For us he has been pretty consistent. Steers were fancy and looked great at finish. He actually added a frame score maybe half to some of the calves. They came really small but grew like weeds. We have our first heifer out of him. He was pretty much like the others small but extremely lively. I am hoping she will follow the pattern of the others with growth. I use him on all my XX , Simmi, and Maines for calving ease. He also gave us a little more hair than expected on this gal. She was 71#'s and her dam was fed hard as a show heifer and was fat. i was worried that we would have a monster. Her mother doesn't even look like she calved. Lots of condition still after running all fall on pasture.

This is just my preference, but I'd make sure I kept BOTH the maternal traits and that awe-inspiring "blaze-face" look. Black Simmis are my 2nd-favorite ( tied with Full-Flecks)!

maybe i've sniffed too much tail adhesive but would Carpe Diem be too wild?????? I'm a big fan of him , calves all came unassisted in 60-80# range.  GREAT FUZZ on them, right size,  blaze face or solid black on all of ours. could be used for good high quality county fair steers and really pretty females. heetseeker x 1/2 char 1/4 angus 1/4 herf so you kinda get a splash of everything with the angus and herf, steers should theoretically be able to put some condition on...... JMO

I bred my Macho heifer to Dream On. the calf is looking pretty good so far.

I am with you on that one. I am trying to keep this female for maternal replacments. she has beautiful udder and is milking great. She calved good. her baby was small and lively and she is carrying condition without any supplemental grain. She has been on a protein tub and grass round bale.  I wanted to try and match her with a bull that would compliment her genetics. I am scared about using bulls that are too clubby- that is why I figured Heat Seeker isn't too far out for a clubby. ???
Carpe Diem- We have never had a hereford on the place. I am not sure how that would work. I know he is not all hereford. I do not know the slightest thing about him. The more I hear about Grandmaster, Ollie and some of the other Simmi bulls they may be a great choice for both females and steers. We don't run in the big time and usually stay local for shows. Our market is for local kids as well at a county level. i am not looking for the next Denver winner. She is above average and did well as a show heifer but she is one we raised from our own stock.

I agree with the Dream On x Macho cross working.  We bred our Macho daughter to Dream On.  She calved about a month ago and that calf is looking pretty good at this point.    The question is now which DO son (or grandson) to breed her back to.  Built Right?  Entourage?    Star Power?   

This is not a first calf heifer, right??      Another bull to consider might be Trademark.  I can't say how he'll work on the Machos but I really like the ones we had this spring.    My only complaint on him is that the calves we got were big and were hard pulls out of heifers that shouldn't carry much BW by pedigree.

Trendsetter is a small frame bull but built like a mack truck.  He is sound as a cat also.  The only thing that surprised me is that he doesn't have the clubby butt that you would expect from the profile pic that you would expect.  Don't get me wrong, he has PLENTY of thickness but its not rounded out like you would think.  When I made that comment to my cousin, one of the owners, he said well yeah, but we never stuck a needle in his butt to build one.  Super nice bull but I can't see him adding any frame.  If you look at the pictures when he won all the guys standing behind him are shorter and you can clearly see faces over his back.
