We have a show we are going to in approx. six weeks.

We are taking a steer calf and heifer calf both born in April.
When should I wean these calves?
Is it to late to cut (will it heal in time) the bull calf or should I just band it?

Thank You in advance for the replies.

I would wean now, the sign is right, it goes back to the head on Tuesday plus your calves are plenty old enough to wean.  As far as the cutting I don't know if it would heal up fast enough before your show, the flies are bad around our place this year so depending on how they are around your place that might set back the healing time a little to.

Cut 'n Wean!  We always weaned every calf we were going to show or sell for show at 2-4 months.  The sooner you get them started on feed, the sooner they start developing that muscle.  My goal was to have a calf at least 400 lbs at 5 months.
