My daughter has this pb shorthorn that we would like to AI this year.  She delivered a calf last spring that lived a week (it had some serious skeletal probs). Trying to decide who to breed her to, any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't use AOD on a heifer with flatter type muscle.

Good call, I thought this heifer had already been a cow though haha.  Gus or if you wanted to make excellent replacements, Goldmine 2109.

If you are asking specifically for PB's to use listen to the many Shorthorn experts on here!  I am starting to like the Shorthorn Plus combo with a Char!  The Supreme heifer at our county fair was a char x shorthorn!  How about a bull like Felony or Troubador!  Just a thought!

All depends.  What is her pedigree like?

She is out of Ar Su Lu Nu Look 331 x DJD Laura's Miss Star.  We aren't hung up on Shorthorns only (even though we really like them).  If we don't go Shorthorn what other breed or cross would you suggest? Or Club calf bulls?

Few questions I would ask myself before breeding her.
What were the skeletal problems? Is this an inherited trait or something that could occur again?
What do you want to do with the calf she produces are you going for purebred breeding stock or club calves?

If I were to look at the purebred avenue there are alot of bulls out there that could work. I would look at the Au Su Lu bloodlines and see what has worked well with their stock. We have an Ar Su Lu cow and she clicks with Final Solution but has not always clicked with other popular bulls. If I were to go club calf a bull we are wanted to give a whirl is Crimson Tide. Early reports of Crimson Tide have been positive. I have not used him so I can't say how he might perform for you. He is a PH carrier. I really like what Jake's Proud Jazz did for our harder doing flatter made females. He add some shape and dimension to them. I also will always be a fan of Gizmo. He makes great replacement females and calves with ease. Just my opinion.

Gus, Jazz,  one of the Jazz sons, gizmo, off road, AOD, there are alot of really good bulls that would work on a heifer like that.
