Hey guys we are starting to breed the angus cows for our spring calvers. We bred alias, two tone, kemo sabe, crowd favorite, and solid gold. The alias worked great on the angus cows however the other bulls didn't quite impress me enough to rebreed that way. The two tone is a tick straight through his knee but if he was sound he would be way good. These are RA Brown bred angus cows. Good growth and they even have some tail head. Sound footed, level hipped, and pretty cows. Lets hear some suggestions. Thanks

We run almost all Angus in our spring herd and have had good luck with Monopoly clones and also walks alone. We didn't have very many this year but I think Unstoppable would also be nice. From what I have seen out of the fall born calves around me MAB might be pretty solid bet also. Then there is always I-80 if you are looking for something a little maternal also.

The heat wave x angus cross is hard to beat.

Arguably his best son Monoply was a result of this cross.

(Not trying to cause a debate over heat wave best son lol)

I would be wary of the Walks Alone on angus.  The calves will show great if you can break them.  Call me old fashioned, but I still think Who works the best on angus cows.

Showing a steer and a heifer by walks alone out of Angus cows.  They were gentle as babies and have been some of our easiest calves to work with.  Their attitudes seem to really follow the cow.

We've only been using club calf sires for about 8 years now, but most of our success on purebred Angus and high % Angus cows has been from the following; Eye Candy, Monopoly, Walks Alone, and Who Made Who.  Among this year's set of calves of new sires for us, Ohio Senator and Unstoppable have made some nice ones that show potential like our proven sires we've used.

We got a Walks ALone x Angus cow last fall out of one of the sales in Dakota's. She was okay when we walked her from trailer to trailer but when we got her home. Whoa! She took 3 months to get haltered safely and walked again. It took another month to get her out in the open. She is in the routine and seems to be okay now but it was a rought start. They are "thinkers". Those calves seem like they need to understand what you are doing clearly or they exlpode.
I like WMW on most any angus cow if they are sound and have some power to them. The feed back that I recieved about Unstoppable who was bred right here in Ohio was that he was more mature and larger framed than some clubby bred bulls. The information came from an Old timer in the business on Unstoppable and that was enough to make me want to try him. I have seen some good calves out of him. Saw some nice Bodacious calves out of purebred cows that were more feminie made. He put some width of base in them and body and hair. The I80 calves that I have seen were super hairy and the females were picture of feminity. I really liked them. We are feeding an I80 steer at the moment that is gaining 3.8#'s day. One and Only has produced some really nice easy feeding calves that are marked up and baldies. Make sure you use one and only on a cow that doesn't have a trashy front or some leather other wise he makes for great steer prospects. Not a fan of eye candies on steers. They haven't seem to have the mass or power to finish.
