I am in high school and for my AP Chemistry class we have to do an end of the year research paper. Since I like cows and I live in a state with soil deficient in selenium, I chose to do my project on WMD. I was wondering if anyone had any personnal experience with the disease or any stories they could tell so I could get some more real-life information. (much better in some cases than acedemic journals IMO) Also, does anyone have any pictures of animals they have had with WMD. Thanks!

I have a calf with it right now. Shes almost two months old and walks with a little limp  due to the fact that the muscle on her right hip was completely gone when she was born. I woke up every morning at 530 before i went to high school and set her on my knee so that she could suck then three more times through out the day it was a long two weeks biut eventually she got up on her own. We took her to the vet who gave her a shot of BO SE and said if shes not better in two weeks she probably will never be okay. But i grew kinda of attached to the little calf so shes just gonna limp around here and will see if she gets better. I have pics i can email you if you need them. and maybe some more info on it if you need it.

you might try the california cattlemens association or UC davis as southern california is a selenium deficient area.  you might also look up kesterson reservoir.
