Here is a Purebred shorthorn that just had here first calf out of a herd bull named Steinkooler (attached pic of calf just out in pasture).  For breeding her I have either Buck Cherry or Tiger Woods semen? Which do you think will work better?

What are you trying to achieve? I would assume by the bulls you have choosen that you are shooting for more clubby? Buck Cherry is THC and Heat Seeker bloodlines and Tiger Woods is clean and ultra clubby. The only word of caution would be to steer away from bulls that might give you a straighter front end. I REALLY like you cow and she is plenty straight up through that front. sometimes when you go pure clubby you can magnify that problem. Of you two choices I would lean towards Tiger Woods v.s. Buck Cherry only because I do not have much experience and not seen many Buck Cherry.
If you don't care about color and carrier status, Double Vision would give you more clubbier looking shorties. There are so many cool shorthorns that have alot to offer I would look at them. She also looks like she might be a good candidate for Monopoly or a stout son.

Just an opinion.......

She is THF forgot to add.  I am trying to achieve clubby calves that will compete at shows and sell, she is plenty straight in both her front and back legs.  I am worried with Tiger Woods even he is THC, he is still pretty posty leg looking that the calf will be messed up.  Bucky Cherry looks more sound even though he is a carrier.  Don't have any monopoly semen this year, maybe if I can get ahold of some for a good price I will try that next year as I think he click pretty well with her.
Doc: Her dam was Daxs Sparkler who goes back to Warhorse and Double Stuff. Her sire was RS After Hours Et who goes back to gizmo. She is a purebred shorthorn but is only registered as a 5/8ths shorthorn plus as one of her grandmothers down the line never was registered I think is what we were told? Her registration number is xAR51631
Mark: I like the idea of Choppin wood as I think that would be a pretty good match, I purchased semen before his add popped up on here though.
I would like to stay away from using a purebred shorthorn bull as if I end up keeping the calf and showing her around here there are not any shorthorns around so the calf would have to go crossbred and would get out muscled. Had this problem in past.

If you know your female is clean both ways TH and PH you could also use some the bulls with alot of maine influence like Steermaker and major impact for stout hairy clubby shorties. Those are two older bulls that produced some clubby shorties in their time. Just a thought.

I am an AFTER HOURS FAN-and the best blue roan ever born at DMCC (Diamond M Cattle-Mark Mueller) was out of a roan After Hours-Cumberland female and a Full Sib To DMCC Bodybuilder-real deal.Came ez-right kind of Angus Maine-on Gizmo-Maine.Body Builder is one of the thickest bulls I ever saw,and structually correct.  Free For All would work too.The only reason Id say Shorthorn at all-is shes gonna need that or an Angus combo to have a fluid moving calf, that will get better with age.Chop wood looks way cool-and if hes sound-and doesnt affect the front too much-wutta steer that could be.

Only thing with Choppin Wood is I want to see some calves out of him and see what he changes. Maybe this time next year when he has calves on the ground I will be getting his semen for her.
Interesting paragraph on After-hours by the way, don't know much about that line.

We just had a NICE calf out of her dam and an Open Bar son.  If you could get your hands on some Open Bar (3/4 Maine) semen I'd give that a shot.  He is stout, hairy, has bone and is SOUND. We have a Tiger Woods out of a cow that has always had sound calves, he was straight on his front end when he was born, he's coming out of it a little, but I'd be leary of using him on her for that reason. Good luck with whatever you choose, but I guess I like the Maine idea.

Thanks for imput, I will look  into Open Bar. Your opinion after does count as double!  :) . As far as Tiger Woods that is exact reason I do not have him mark down as one to breed her to, I have Buck Cherry at the moment.

BSCattle: calf went away from the blue roan color, looks more normal now haha.

/// The right maine would work-since she has so much Improver in her-it would need to be way sound. O0

oppisite of what everyone is suggesting but might look towards mercedes benz, walks alone, or bojo. I think bojo would power her up and throw some more bone under her, walks alone should stouten her up and throw a sweet color, and to be honest im not sure what benz would do but I have sure liked every calf I have seen out of him (not many but everyone of them has been pretty good)

DCC: Buck Cherry reminds me of walks alone and bojo, he has the same look. Problem with Walks Alone is he has structure problems and we need a correct structure bull for this cow. I like your Bojo choice.

ya for sure seems like the buckcherrys are a tick longer spined while the walks alones have been stouter but structure has been about the same but i also use buckcherry on more americans than exotics so take that into account as well sounds like your deciding between bojo and buckcherry now might want to see how the walks alones feed out before we start making them out to be great ones!
