will maine/angus cross make good clubby mamas

I have a pure bred  Maine and want to make some clubby making mamas, Thinking of trying Anchor for Maine/Angus cross. Does anyone know if this cross will work ?

Yes, Anchor has been proven to work well on Maine Genetics. OCC Legend, BC Lookout and Plainview Lutton I like as well if not better. All will yield a little different type, though. It depends on how your cow is bred. Anchor for those extremely framey ones and Lut for more moderate. Carlson's in Missouri has good success with Lookout.  Really like Horsely Brother's Lut son but he has some Chi in him and might be too framey for what your looking for. I like the idea of using Angus bulls for something a little more unique than the norm. Especially on linebred Maine's that are difficult to outcross using other Maine genetics. There is a bunch of good options. JMO.

I think the maine/angus cross is one of my favourite crosses for making those clubby mother's. The angus should really body down and moderate the maine, while the maine will add the bone and thickness. Breed those back clubby and there's your show steers. I have 2 of my best maine cows bred sexed heifer to Eagle Eye and Net Worth, my plan for them is clubby mothers and 3/4 maine makers.
