I hauled water to my dads black cows today. I was watching them drink.......I wondered........is there any data comparing black vs. red cattle and water consumption. Water is getting to be more precious all the time. How much more water does it take to fatten a black steer vs. a red steer in aa feedlot. What about cows. How much more water does it take over a ten year period for a black cow cow to raise calves than a red cow. Has any data been collected? If we could extend the life of say.......the Ogalala aquifer ten years.......wouldn't it be worth it to switch to red cattle. If we don't do this we will destroy the planet. If it would save just one gallon of water.......wouldn't it be worth it?

It would be easier to have a one child policy.

Really we have it as our population growth is now fueled above replacement by legal immigration.

Our government can not survive without a growing population because it is financed as a pyrimid scheme, otherwise illegal in the private sector.

Also AJ there were 2-3 thousand cattle lost in feedlots last summer because of not handling the heat in feed yards in NE . last summer ....They said it was definitely black cattle caused and these cattle were fat ready to go to market ...

How about we put solar panels on each black cow, wire them up to the grid and make every lib east of the Mississippi happy.

Your on to something there, but put them over the pens in the feed lot, that way you can shade the cattle as you generate electricity, at the same time use collectors to trap the methane to feed generators to run fans to keep them extra cool.
Heck why not make mini water treatments plants to treat the run off and use that for misters to keep them even more cool and control dust. (I could really go for the water treatment plants, we do that work)
Headline reads, "Feed Lots go Green"
