Would you use a Angus Bull that was a Past Champion at Ft.worth, Tulsa, Reno, Denver,K.C., Louisville and Jackson Miss? What if this bull has sired Grand Champion Heifers at the biggest Junior Angus Shows in the Country in the last 3 years? Denver 07' , Ft. Worth the last 3 years all by different heifers, San Antonio 2 of the last 3 years, Houston 09' San Angelo 09'. These shows range from 150 head to 220 head. What if I told you there were 3 or less of this Bulls daughters entered in each showand he has had just over 100 calves? BW epd of 3.7 with excellent growth and milk #'s. I am needing opionions before I start to promote this Bull. He has never been promoted other than being in a couple different semen catalogs. Thanks in advance for any advise.

Most of the bulls that win shows will never make a steer bull.  Too big.  Thus, His photo will mean more than his wins showing...photos of him and his calves will be the key.

He definitely is worth promoting. He has produced for the showring and that helps. As a maternal sire, volume increases and would help with sales over a long period of time. If his daughters prove to be hard workers then you have something very saleable.

I am thinking more on the lines of promoting him within his breed for functional females and show cattle.

I was also wondering how to research if he is the only Angus Bull in the history of the Ft. Worth junior Angus show to have sired the Grand heifer 3 years in a row by 3 different heifers. Any input would be appreciated.

His reg # is 14282015. He is out of Famous 7001 and a Saugahatchee cow,  similiar breeding as Hot Rod.

I don't think it's important if any other bull accomplished that. The fact that he did it is impressive in itself. I would research to see how the existing daughters are doing in production. This is where you can sell semen in quantity because more breeders would want to produce replacements and would buy semen in larger numbers. I think as competitive as this market is, the long term sales in larger quantities (to perhaps bigger operators) is what you would want to target. He has already proven to sire show winners but those semen sales are towards a more limited market.

Thanks Telos, I  think you are right about marketing towards replacements. He doesn't have  a whole lot of mature females in herds because he has not been widely used. His daughters do have perfect udders with small teats and plenty of milk and they are easy fleshing. I have also breed him to his own daughters to see if any defects arise and have had no problems.

Do you have semen available on the bull, and do you own him? If you do have semen on him, what are you getting for it? Thanks, Brent
