Do Yellow Jacket calves grow fairly well or are they slower growing?  I'm looking for a bull to breed to my cows that will add some growth to the calves.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

That is a definite yes on growth in a good way.  We've got a good one we raised in Fall 08 that's a good one.  Only problem is he's getting a little heavy on me.  He's a very late August 08 and he's already weighing close to 1450 full.  He's out of a pretty good-sized Cunia grandaughter.  He would work a little better on a slightly smaller cow.  I've got my hands full keeping him held for San Antonio.

He's the heaviest muscled calf we've ever raised and got the frame and the bone to support it.  YJ's have enough growth to be true heavyweights.  On mine, my biggest problem is getting him "slick shear fat".

Chambero-
thanks for the information.  The cow I am breeding him to is a bigger framed Full FlushXchar daughter.  And her last 2 calves have been bulls/steers and are super muscled.  Also, keep us posted on the steer and how he does in S.A.
