I am at a loss here, we have treated the calf 2 times now with sulfa boulus as our vet reccomended, but this morning I go out and the calf had the above mentioned poop back, some piles are runny some are pasty, the runny ones are a really light yellow almost grayish looking and the pasty pile was just a ugly yellow color. The calf has spunk to him, I have watched him and he is picking at grass and hay, nursing (more about that in a min.) and drinking water, his urine looks normal did not look concentrated at all.
This is the changes we have made over the last week. We switched the heifers over to a 70% grass 30% alfalfa hay, one heifer in the pen has not calved yet, but is getting close she has milk in the teats and my daughter seems to think that the calf may have been sucking on her...... So we are separating today (could that cause the poop problem?) They are not out in pasture, they are in a dry lot some grass grows but for the most part it is all sand.
Calf was vacinated a month ago.
Thanks for any help/advice you may have. We only have a couple heifers/cows per kid and the money from the calf goes towards college so I really hate to lose one!!
