Congratulations to Peyton Rivera and the Schlueter family for exhibiting the grand champion market animal at the Muscatine County (IA) Fair this past weekend. Sugar Creek raised this 1372 lb steer out of Sunseeker and our Donor, Elsie (Draft Pick x Black Irish Kansas x Angus) . Watch for his full sib market heifer shown by Sweeting Family at Washington County Iowa this Friday and a maternal sib shown by the Marek family by Texas Hold Em. Another full sib will show August 7th at the Great Mississippi Valley Fair in Davenport for the Deitz Family. Good luck to all of our customers.
Congrats to our customers on their early success during the county fair season. Griffin Humphreys had Champion Maine steer in Linn County and 7th rate of gain steer with his Ali x Sunseeker. Peyton Rivera had champion x-bred steer (Sunseeker x Elsie) and reserve market heifer (Sunseeker x Wonder ET) at the Wyoming, IA open show this past weekend. Good work !!! Upcoming counties with Sugar Creek calves include Scott, Muscatine, Clinton, Iowa, Johnson, and Washington. Good luck to all the exhibitors.
We have calves priced and ready for viewing anytime. We will also be consigning calves to Ben Lovrien and Matt Jannsen’s sale along Highway 20 in September and Sievers Show cattle sale in New Liberty, IA in September. Stay tuned for updated information, pics and sale flyers.
Had our 2nd calf on Friday. Nice little Stevenson CE Deluxe heifer calf on a Destiny’s Ace first calf heifer we bought from Deiter’s dispersal. 68 lbs, unassisted and full of vigor. The first calf we had was a blaze faced heifer out of SVF/NJC High Voltage and our new donor. Miss Meyer T734. We will begin flushing the Meyer daughter this spring. starting with Hannibal.

We had a great expo. Jack was named Champion Chi bull sold well to CO and Red was a class winner and sold 4th in the sale. Special thanks to friends Dwayne Faidley and Aaron Ingebritson for their help getting the bulls ready to show. This was our first time exhibiting cattle since our 4-h days and we sure do have a lot to learn, but I feel good about our program and will plan on doing more in the future.

Well, being new to the blogosphere ( hope that is correct), we will give this a try and see what happens. I spent the weekend working on our 2 Chi entries for the IA Beef Expo with the help of of friend and Andis master Justin Speth. Justin did a great job dialing the bulls in for the show and sale and I am very happy to report that the bulls look great. We should be weighing pretty good and the bulls really handled the commotion very well. Can’t wait for our first week as consignors at the Expo and hope that the buyers have some money to spend. Please be sure to look us up in the Chi aisle and attend the sale on Thursday afternoon.
