after the showers passed thru this morning, the sky cleared, and the afternoon ended up being pretty nice…so lindsay and i headed back up on the hill to check on the cows and snap a few pics…

finally kicked the babies out of the barn this afternoon…it was a wild rodeo…the momma’s were so ready to get out and the poor babies were scared to death to leave….we literally had to shove them out…and they really didnt like the mud…by this evening though, things had finally settled down a little…and they had mosied their way back up the hill…

this is my “new old man”….the blue roaning on his face makes him look old…and those darn whiskers on his chin dont help much either…

well until fall calving anyway….last spring calf born this morning…and what a surprise! as soon as i saw it, i was prayin’ it was a girl…but not this time…this little fella weighed in at 78 lbs…he’s out of a purebred shorthorn cow (outcast x gizmo) and an occ legend x maine bull…

out of the past 7 school days, 5 of them have been snow days….so that has left me with a little free time to play around on the computer…just for fun…
